Eastern Indiana was awarded a competitive Strategic Skills
Initiative grant by the Indiana Department of Workforce
Development to create new jobs in agri-business, small
business, and entrepreneurship advancement.
The
Strategic Skills Initiative grant was awarded to the Eastern
Indiana Regional Workforce Board (RWB). The RWB is an
Indiana 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation responsible for
overseeing workforce activities in Eastern Indiana, which
includes the counties of Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Henry,
Jay, Randolph, Rush, Union, and Wayne.
Because of the
economic challenges identified in these areas, the Regional
Workforce Board has developed the Growth Start Project,
which is aimed at jump starting and growing the economy
through the creation of jobs and wealth.
Through the Strategic
Skills Initiative, Eastern Indiana will be able to increase new
venture creation in agri-business and small business, develop
high school students as future entrepreneurs, and work with
MBA students to launch new business ventures.
